Grade 1 is the softest, most ductile commercially-pure titanium per ASTM F468 (oxygen 0.18% max, iron 0.20% max). Tensile 35 ksi min, yield 25 ksi min, elongation 24% min. Used for nonferrous bolting where formability matters more than strength - heat exchanger tube-sheet bolts, deep-drawn fastener heads, and chemical service requiring titanium's intrinsic corrosion resistance.
Grade 1 is ~30% weaker than Grade 2 but ~20% more ductile. Choose Grade 1 only when extreme formability is required - most general nonferrous bolting goes to Grade 2 (R50400). Both share titanium's intrinsic resistance to seawater, chlorides, and oxidizing acids.
Rarely. Titanium is essentially immune to H2S sour-service attack across the F468 grade family, but the bolting strength requirements for typical sour-service applications usually push designs to Grade 2 (R50400) or Grade 7 (R52400). Grade 1 is a niche choice.
Less common than Gr 2 or 5 but available on order across ASME B16 and B18 inch + metric series. TorqBolt cuts Grade 1 bolting from PMI-verified bar stock with full F468 certification.
